Provisional Psychologist

Valerie is a provisional psychologist who completed her bachelor’s degree in General Psychology at Concordia University in Montreal in 2013 and her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Walden University in 2016. Having been through her own mental health journey, Valerie has the capacity to understand thoughts, feelings and behaviors that contribute to mental health issues and impact individuals’ life.

About Valerie

Valerie has been in the mental health field for over 10 years and provides trauma-informed and evidence-based treatments in her practice. Valerie has experience with individuals struggling with homelessness, addictions, high-risk behaviors and related mental health issues, mainly concurrent disorders and FASD diagnosis. Valerie has experience working trauma, anxiety and depression, grief and loss and relationship concerns.  

Valerie strives to help individuals to fulfill their potential and maximize their well-being by drawing upon different approaches such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (strength-based), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Valerie also uses different strategies to help clients feel safe and grounded during and after treatment and to improve clients’ general functioning. Valerie believes that mental health is a process that can be improved by healing our inner selves with the right support.
