About Billie-Jo Stewart

Billie-Jo works from a trauma-informed approach and attempts to create a safe place that allows her clients to discuss and explore difficult and challenging issues. Billie-Jo values hearing each client’s story and believes each person has worth and purpose. Billie-Jo trusts each client has hopes and dreams, which at times can be difficult to attain independently. Billie-Jo hopes counselling can bring on opportunities to explore this further for the client and in-turn promote understanding, hope and healing. Billie-Jo attempts to collaborate with the client to help discover the meaning behind their thoughts, feelings and actions.

Billie-Jo has experience working with trauma, addiction, various mental health concerns (including depression, anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, PTSD), relationship issues, grief and loss, LGBTQ+, and spirituality.

Billie-Jo uses skills and strategies from different counselling modalities to suit each client’s needs and preferences. Billie-Jo realizes each client as unique. Some of Billie-Jo’s therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Within these approaches Billie-Jo incorporates mindfulness, emotional regulation skills, interpersonal effectiveness skills and goal setting. Billie-Jo looks forward to exploring with the client their individual strengths, individual gifts, and individual meaning to accomplish goals they are hoping to achieve.
