Assessments for adults

  • If you need an assessment to support an application for access arrangements (for example, extra time) in professional examinations.

  • If you have ever wondered whether you might be dyslexic, or might have a processing speed or working memory difficulty.

  • If you would like to discover your IQ and your academic strengths, weaknesses and potential.

  • If you need an assessment to support a Canada Student Grant for Students with Disabilities application.

An educational psychology assessment will provide you with answers that you may have been looking for all of your life

How?

Educational Psychologists (EPs) are skilled assessors with extensive training in all the factors that affect learning. An EP assessment will identify any underlying issues that may be holding you back.

Our adult assessments are broad based and cover all the different factors that can affect a person's capacity to learn and the brain's ability to process.

Working with sensitivity and empathy, we use gold standard, cognitive tests, designed specifically to get to the heart of the problem and provide clear information and answers.

The Assessment

The assessment can be conducted either in person, at our consulting rooms at Manor Clinic, or remotely via video conferencing.

The assessment involves:

  • Gathering background information from you about your experiences with learning.

  • Carrying out tests of intellectual ability and literacy levels.

  • A consultation meeting to feedback the psychologist's findings.

  • A written report within 12 to 14 working days.

Outcomes

What can you expect as an outcome of the assessment?

  • A thorough explanation of your difficulties and the underlying issues. This may involve a diagnosis.

  • Personalised strategies to support with study and workplace training as well as generic recommendations for the workplace, which can be further clarified through a 'workplace needs assessment' if necessary.

  • Signposting on to more specialised assessments, if appropriate.

  • A report which can be submitted to your employer or teaching institution as evidence towards your requirement for reasonable adjustments. This may also be used as evidence for access arrangements for professional examinations and university students, and DSA applications
